Amid the global wave of accelerating net-zero transition and the rapid rise of AI, Taiwan’s packaging industry is embracing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. On September 25, KYMC partnered with three international leaders—Asahi KASEI, Dainichiseika, and SINWA PRINTECH—to host Taiwan’s very first Water-Based Flexographic Printing Technology Sharing Event at KYMC headquarters. The event drew a vibrant crowd, spotlighting sustainability and smart innovation as the guiding forces to lead the industry into the future.

Since 1968, KYMC has been deeply rooted in the printing equipment industry for over half a century. Over a decade ago, KYMC took the pioneering step of introducing water-based printing technology into mass production for flexible packaging in collaboration with major domestic manufacturers, maintaining the leadership role ever since. With stricter environmental regulations and increasing restrictions on VOCs and solvent usage, water-based printing has not only emerged as an industry trend but also as today’s most practical solution. This event showcased not only the latest green technologies but also forward-looking answers to the challenges of declining birthrate and labor shortages—highlighting the integration of AI algorithms and edge computing into production and management.

Showcasing Four Major Highlights
Asahi KASEI: Globally leading water-wash flexographic plates, delivering groundbreaking innovations that impressed attendees.
Dainichiseika: The cutting-edge water-based flexographic inks, solving long-standing printing ink challenges.
SINWA PRINTECH: A professional plate-making system, standing as a solid backbone for the industry.
KYMC: First-ever public showcase of its intelligent CI flexographic press, water-based printing, and coating-lamination technologies, with high-speed live demonstrations that presented a complete solution and highlighted KYMC’s supply chain integration capabilities.

This was more than just a technology-sharing event—it was a call to action for industry transformation. From materials to machinery, from intelligence to sustainability, KYMC and its global partners are building a “Flexo Alliance” to accelerate Taiwan’s transition from gravure to flexography. Looking ahead, Taiwan will not only stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world but also lead the global movement toward green printing innovation.
